Georgia, Month Two

You started smiling when you were five weeks old and it melted my heart! At first every time I noticed it and tried to get you to do it again, though, you stopped and started paying attention to me.  I'm finally able to catch you on camera and video!

The cutest smile in the world is when you smile at me with your cucky (pacifier) in and it falls out.

Sleeping: We all made it through the dreaded six-week growth spurt alive.  For three days it seemed impossible to get you to sleep.  You wanted to eat every single hour during the day and there was no chance of getting you to nap in between.  You would only fall asleep at night if you were sleeping with me, and then you'd maybe sleep in your basinette, but no chance of getting you to sleep in your crib!  After it was over, though, you went right back to napping and sleeping like a little angel.

At exactly six weeks old you shocked us by sleeping from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m., then sleeping again until 8 a.m.  This happened a few nights in a row, then a few times during the following week.  Unfortunately, momma got sick and disrupted your schedule, so you went back to just sleeping in four or five hour spurts at night.

At your two month birthday you were sleeping from 7:30 p.m. until around 1:30 a.m. (which is technically considered sleeping through the night since it is six hours), waking to eat again around 5 a.m. and waking to start the day sometime between 9 and 10:30 a.m.  I'm so grateful for a good sleeper!  You typically just eat and go right back to sleep.

You will fall asleep on your own for naps and at night if you are swaddled and have your cucky.  I'm happy for this milestone, but it also makes me sad.  Becoming more independent and learning to fall asleep on your own means you are no longer the teeny-tiny baby who depends on me for every single little thing.

Eating: You absolutely LOVE to eat!  You get so excited and worked up when it's time to eat.  Daddy and I really laugh when you ball your little fists up by your face and start breathing loudly.

Favorite Activities: You love our morning "get dressed" routine.  You lay on your changing table and coo and talk to me while I change your diaper, wash your face and put lotion on your body.  Then we move to the rocking chair where we get dressed while singing The Hokey Pokey, ABCs and anything else we want.

Least Favorite: You hate doing your neck stretching exercises and you generally don't like the time between bathtime and your night-night feeding when we put lotion on you and get you dressed for bed.

Outings: We took a trip to Texarkana to meet your PeePaw.  You rode the entire time in your carseat - five hours!  We felt really bad that you had to stay in there, but we're thankful you are a good traveler.  He is so proud of you and loves you so much!  He kept saying, "This is the size of baby I like!" comparing your chubby cheeks to your skinny cousins.

Kiki came to visit for a week while momma was sick - you two had so much fun!  It's a wonder you aren't super spoiled the way she held you and rocked you so much every single day!
