Making The Cut Diary

Day 12 (March 26): Today is Friday and the day before my half marathon! I planned on running an easy 2-3 miles, but I had two doctor’s appointments and by the time I finished those and got my bag packed, it was time to head to Austin.

Food was kind of bad since we were travelling from about 2 p.m. on. I also had to start carb loading, but I could have kept it a bit healthier. Breakfast was a bagel and cream cheese, lunch was a BLT with cheeses and French fries (the regular fried kind). I finished that off with an Italian cream soda. When we got to the race Expo I sampled some protein bars and had four small glasses of champagne. Dinner was chips and queso (with spinach to make it healthy), fettuccine alfredo and toast. And a bag of Skittles.

Day 13 (March 27): My half marathon! Needless to say, I didn’t do an official MTC workout, but I think running 13.1 miles is good enough! I didn’t watch my eating at all today. I consumed a TON of healthy calories. The only bad thing I ate was a Frito pie from Sonic on the way home from Austin.

Day 14 (March 28): No workout today. My legs are still kind of sore from the half marathon, mostly my quads. I wanted to go to the park and walk 3 miles but I never made it out. I did get back on track with my eating, though. Breakfast was two slices of Ezekiel bread with low fat butter, and 3 slices Morningstar (fake) bacon. Lunch was an Amy’s organic bean burrito, and dinner was a healthy recipe of chicken with pesto and tomatoes served over pasta. I snacked on a banana between meals.

My stomach feels lumpy and I just kind of feel puffy all over. Probably due to all of the Gatorade + junk consumed over the weekend.
