Fab Dinner Party Part 1

We recently had our friends The Burdicks over for dinner. I was a little nervous considering I have class all day until five and they were set to come over around seven. David was a huge help! I made a grocery list for him, and he did all of the shopping, setting the table, and buying fresh flowers for the house.

Everything I made was very simple and uncomplicated, but with a little fancy touch. Those little fancy touches are what made my guests feel special and made it look as if I'd spent quite some time preparing our dinner.
Kari loved the Parmesan Asparagus Spears appetizers, and they were so simple! I found a recipe on Big Girls Small Kitchen after seeing them on Barefoot Contessa and adapted it a bit (ahem, I used the Fake Parmesan - it sticks better). Here's what I did. Five minute prep time, I promise!
Parmesan Asparagus Spears
(amount of ingredients varies, just make as many as you need - I did two per person)
Asparagus spears, snapped at bottom and washed
Pastry sheet
Olive oil
Fake Parmesan (the kind in the big green canister, I think it's by Kraft)
Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut pastry dough into thin strips using a pizza cutter. Wrap each asparagus spear in pastry, brush with olive oil and place on parchment-covered baking sheet. Before baking, sprinkle liberally with Fake Parmesan. Bake until brown, 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve within two hours of baking.
Easy peasy! I'll post the remainder of the dinner party recipes this weekend if I can get away from studying!
I'm also excited about having a couple of girls over this weekend! I'm in mega study mode, though so if we have snacks it'll be something more along the lines of chips and dip!
