Marley & Me

Marley & Me

I was able to resist the book although it was recommended to me by several people. I broke down and saw the movie today. I should have left the theater before it got too sad, but I stayed. Anyone who has ever had a beloved pet who does not shed a tear at this movie surely has a heart made of stone.

It was unbearably sad to me because I was reminded so much of our young family throughout the movie. David and I got Oliver when we had been married for only a few months. He has become so much a part of us and will continue to be part of our family as it grows. It has been fun to watch him grow and mature from a four pound baby to a twenty-four pound toddler. Fortunately for us, he grew out of the destructive puppy stage quite quickly, so we did not have as much trouble as Marley's owners. Oliver is such a loving animal and brings so much joy to our lives that I cannot bear to imagine life without him.
